A second location: the month first, the lease second

A second unit is another rent, another shift and another stock in the same city. It is not proved by “the first one already works”. Check that the first unit covers its month, then count the second month on its own.

How this differs from a new city

Another city is another results page. Here the geography stays and the costs are new.

Customers of the first unit may simply move. Group revenue does not double.

Before you view a unit

  • Write the first unit’s month. If it does not cover its costs, a second unit does not fix that.
  • Build the second month from scratch: rent, utilities, one wage, opening stock.
  • See how many sales cover those fixed costs at your price.
  • Name where those sales come from, including sales stolen from the first unit.
  1. 1

The first unit holds its month

Use the last 30 days. Do not open a second unit to “catch up”.

  2. 2

The second month starts at zero

Put the second rent and wage into the break-even calculator. Do not split the first unit’s revenue.

  3. 3

    The item has to work

For goods, run unit economics first: purchase, fee, delivery, ads, returns.

  4. 4

    Cannibalisation

Mark customers who live closer to the new address. Do not count those receipts twice.

When a search snapshot helps

  • After the district is chosen, to see whether people search the same words there.

What you learn

What we found

A second unit is its own month.

Why it matters

Otherwise the lease feeds on revenue the first unit already has.

What to do

Break-even for the second unit, then compare one district.

If you do not want to check this by hand, aVtonomus will show it in the analysis.

Common questions

Can I copy the first unit’s revenue?

No. The new address has its own flow and may take part of the first.

Does the calculator name a good site?

No. It shows how many sales cover the costs you enter.
